Toolstation Northern Counties East League Round-Up
20-11-2018 I Round-Up News
Hemsworth Miners Welfare returned to the top of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division with a 4-2 home win over Thackley on Saturday.

They had been overtaken by Knaresborough Town in midweek but regained their position at the summit despite going behind after 5 minutes, thanks to James Rothel's opener.

Hemsworth went in at the break level as Nash Connolly's injury-time equaliser restored parity and they took the lead early in the second period through a Kristian Hargreaves own goal before the scores were even once more with Kieran Thompson netting for the visitors on 51.

But, Richard Collier and Bradley Dockerty both struck either side of the hour-mark to ensure a seventh league win of the season for the hosts.

Knaresborough, meanwhile, began the day as leaders and were denied a chance to stay there by a last-gasp leveller from Matthew Sykes in an enthralling 3-3 draw at home with Worksop Town.

They led three times through Nick Black, Ben Cohen and Brad Walker but the Tigers showed great resilience as Kyle Jordan and Sykes twice brought them back into the game to earn a point that keeps them in eleventh spot.

Penistone Church and Yorkshire Amateur leapfrog Knaresborough into second and third respectively after away wins at the bottom two sides.

Ryan Johnson and Jordan Coduri netted twice as Penistone won 5-2 at Goole AFC whilst Fernando Moke's stoppage time winner snatched the Ammers a 2-1 victory at Harrogate Railway Athletic after Ashley Flynn's early opener - his 15th goal of the season - had been cancelled out by Stephen Smith for the hosts.

Barton Town are up into fifth after Luke Aldrich and Gareth Barlow scored for the Swans in a 2-1 win at Albion Sports, going above Maltby Main who drew 1-1 at home with Garforth Town, Jonathan Hill claiming a point for the hosts after Mark Simpson's penalty had broken the deadlock.

Goals from Lewis Bemrose and Jack McMenemy secured a 2-0 victory for Bottesford Town over visitors Eccleshill United and the Poachers are up to seventh in the table.

Handsworth Parramore drop to eighth after a 2-0 home loss to Bridlington Town, the Seasiders climbing to 9th behind their hosts on goal difference courtesy of second-half goals from Fraser Papprill and Joe McFadyen.

A brace each for Josh Tennant and Josh Vickers gave Hall Road Rangers three vital points as a 4-1 home victory over Athersley Recreation moves them up to fifteenth and four points away from the bottom two.

And, it was a point apiece at Inkersall Road as four goals were shared between Staveley Miners Welfare and Liversedge, Joe Walton netting twice for the visitors with Joe Pugh and Jahmal Riley getting on the scoresheet for the Trojans.

Division One leaders Winterton Rangers returned to winning ways after two successive defeats to move three points clear as Luke Wheeldon and Robbie Start scored in a 2-1 win at Harworth Colliery after Adam Coulton had given the home side a seventh minute lead.

Second-placed Nostell Miners Welfare went down 2-0 at Hallam, second half goals from Tom Roebuck and Sam Smith ensuring the Sandygate side kept hold of 8th position.

Campion are now two points away from Nostell in third after their 5-1 home defeat of East Yorkshire Carnegie, a triple strike in 6 early second half minutes from Graham Hall, Laurence Sorhaindo and Jahro Parchment proving pivotal in their victory.

Dan Trott's hat-trick helped Grimsby Borough to a 5-1 win at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic to move his side up into fifth, a place and a point behind their hosts who fall to fourth.

A Liam Flanagan double went a long way to claiming Selby Town a 4-2 home win over Ollerton Town that sees the Robins climb to sixth above Dronfield Town who were beaten by a single goal at the HE Barnes Stadium by Glasshoughton Welfare, Scott Brown with the decider on 72 minutes.

FC Bolsover remain bottom without a point as they went down 4-0 at AFC Emley who are up to 11th after their win that included a hat-trick for Ben Burnett.

Bolsover are now four points adrift as Parkgate picked up their first victory of the season, Sam Ackroyd and Brandon Bagley netting in a 2-1 triumph at Shirebrook Town.

Skegness Town moved out of the bottom three with a 2-2 draw at Rossington Main, Lee Holmes' stoppage time penalty grabbing a point for the hosts against a Skegness side that ended the match with nine-men.

And, two penalties helped Armthorpe Welfare to a 3-0 victory at Swallownest with Liam Radford and Jordan Buckham both slotting home from twelve yards.
